Photo trip report: Cedar Point

I bought a ticket (saved $7 with a coupon) and walked through the gates at the front entrance. It was before 9 a.m., and the gates were open, which was new to me. Before, they hadn’t opened the gates until 9. But the passholders and resort guests were able to enter on the left and get some rides, while I and the others went to the right and waited at the temporary gates. For the first time since my numerous visits in 2007 and 2008, I had to wait with everyone else. As we waited, a bunch of managers stood out and watched. I saw two of my friends waiting for their passholder side to open. We said hi, then at 9, their gates opened and they went to ride.

I got to Kings Island shortly after opening and parked my car in the huge parking lot. I bought my ticket online a few days before and saved $20. Great deal! I entered the park and met up with my friend Bryan, and we headed toward Flight of Fear. He said it’s good to hit early because the line gets pretty huge.

Several Cedar Fair parks will seek the wind in 2011

Posted August 24th, 2010 at 10:04 am in News by Steven

Photo Courtesy of Cedar Fair Entertainment Company Cedar Point, Kings Island, Canada’s Wonderland and Knott’s Berry Farm have announced that they will each add an old-fashioned swing ride to their respective parks with a new twist — that it will take you swinging to new heights.

Like any other swing ride, WindSeeker will have you swinging at about a 45 degree angle at speeds of up to 31mph (50km/hr), or 8 revolutions per minute.  Its similarities end there as it lifts you up to 301 feet (almost 92M) over the course of 50 seconds, with a total ride cycle time of 3 minutes. Photo trip report: Cliff’s Amusement Park

Posted August 18th, 2010 at 11:11 am in Reports, Reviews, Travel by Chip

I drove to Albuquerque and got to the park a little before noon, when Cliff’s as scheduled to open. I bought my wristband for $26.70 with tax and entered the park. I visited this park in 2005 and loved New Mexico Rattler, the wooden coaster. So I went to it right away. I walked on to the back seat and waited awhile as they let more people in. There were about six other people in the train. What a coaster! The first and second drops have good airtime, but the best drop is the drop parallel to the lift hill. The airtime in the back seat is spectacular. Rattler’s running really well. I was a little anxious that it wouldn’t have aged well, but it’s only got normal wood shake. It’s doing great. 10/10.
